Make this quick, one-pan honey garlic chicken and green beans for a simple, flavorful weeknight dinner with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the cut chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides and mostly cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add the trimmed green beans to the same skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until they are crisp-tender, about 4-6 minutes.
  4. While the beans cook, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small bowl to create the sauce.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the green beans. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken and green beans. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly, about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat immediately. Serve your quick chicken and green beans skillet hot.

Notes

  • For juicier chicken, make sure not to overcrowd the pan when searing in the first step. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • If you prefer a lower-carb option, substitute the honey with a sugar-free alternative or use less.
  • This recipe works well with chicken thighs if you prefer dark meat. Adjust cooking time slightly.
