Ingredients
Scale
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
4 (6-ounce) tuna steaks
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, brown sugar, and black pepper to create the marinade.
Place the tuna steaks in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
Pour the marinade over the tuna steaks, ensuring both sides are coated.
Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Do not marinate longer than 30 minutes to prevent the acid from changing the texture of the fish.
Remove the tuna from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels before cooking. Discard the remaining marinade.
Notes
For grilling, aim for 2-3 minutes per side over medium-high heat for medium-rare.
If using a cast-iron skillet, heat the skillet until very hot before adding a thin layer of high-heat oil.
