Make these rich, boozy Kentucky Bourbon Balls using a simple no-bake method. These classic Southern confections use vanilla wafers and pecans for a decadent, quick holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups finely crushed vanilla wafer cookies
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, plus extra for rolling
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup bourbon (Jim Beam or similar)
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place the crushed vanilla wafers, chopped pecans, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and cocoa powder into a medium bowl. Mix these dry ingredients together well.
  2. In a separate small bowl, combine the bourbon, corn syrup, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is uniform.
  3. Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients. Stir everything together until a thick, uniform dough forms.
  4. Place the dough in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes. This makes rolling easier.
  5. Place extra powdered sugar in a shallow dish.
  6. Scoop out small amounts of the chilled dough (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them firmly between your palms into small balls.
  7. Roll each bourbon ball completely in the reserved powdered sugar until fully coated.
  8. Place the finished balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Refrigerate the bourbon balls for at least 2 hours before serving to allow them to set properly.

Notes

  • These are adult treats due to the bourbon content. Do not serve to children.
  • For a chocolate coating, melt 8 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate and dip the chilled balls before rolling in powdered sugar.
  • You can substitute whiskey or dark rum for the bourbon if desired.
  • Store these boozy dessert truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
