Combine the comfort of classic apple pie with the sweet, soft dough of cinnamon rolls in this incredibly easy dessert fusion. This recipe uses store-bought ingredients for a quick, impressive bake perfect for holidays or cozy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 count) refrigerated cinnamon rolls, icing packet reserved
  • 1 can (21 ounces) apple pie filling
  • 1 package (2 count) refrigerated pre-made pie crusts
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (optional, for extra gooiness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Unroll the cinnamon rolls. Cut each roll in half horizontally to create thinner pieces.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the halved cinnamon roll pieces until they are flat.
  4. Press the flattened cinnamon roll pieces into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie plate to form a crust. You may need to overlap pieces slightly.
  5. Pour both cans of apple pie filling evenly over the cinnamon roll crust.
  6. If using, drizzle the caramel sauce over the apple filling.
  7. Take the two pre-made pie crusts. Cut them into strips to create a lattice or simple strips to cover the top of the pie filling. Alternatively, you can cut the second crust into small squares to scatter over the top for a cobbler effect.
  8. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Check the crust halfway through; if it browns too fast, loosely cover the edges with foil.
  9. Remove the pie from the oven. While the pie cools slightly (about 10 minutes), warm the reserved cinnamon roll icing packets if desired.
  10. Drizzle the warm icing over the baked pie. Let it cool enough to set before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

  • For an extra gooey topping, use the reserved cinnamon roll icing and add a tablespoon of milk to thin it slightly before drizzling.
  • If you prefer a crust made entirely of cinnamon roll dough, skip the pre-made pie crusts and use all the cinnamon rolls, flattening them to line the bottom and top of the pie.
  • Serve this quick comfort dessert warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the best experience.
